Refluxgate Notes

It is often assumed that the caffeine is responsible for the reflux. However, this is not the case, as even decaf coffee produces reflux (though not as severly). The effect is dose dependent and varies between people. Some people have no problem tolerating their morning coffee, though you should try not to go above that. Caffeine containing tea, like black or green tea, is FAR better tolerated than coffee. Even if you end up consuming more tea to make up for the lower caffeine content in tea compared to coffee. Studies have shown that it does not appear to me the caffeine that is the main issue, but that it must be other substances in coffee thet cause reflux. Apparently, tea does not contain those substances.
